Dongguk University’s central history club “Ladder” held a group-viewing event of the movie “Upside Down” which is a documentary film regarding the Sewol ferry incident. After the film screening, there was a discussion about the Sewol ferry incident with the bereaved family.

Jang Yu-jin, the president of “Ladder,” said, “A lot of unresolved problems regarding the Sewol ferry incident still remains. We should be concerned over these issues.” In addition, she explained the present condition of investigation regarding the incident. “The working party on the Sewol ferry incident was not guaranteed for the enough period for investigation.”

After the group-viewing event, two fathers of victims of the April 16 ferry disaster participated the event and had a discussion with the participants. Lee Nam-seok, one of the bereaved families, said, “The working party on the Sewol ferry incident had been created thanks to the signature campaign of over six million people. However, the government keeps trying to cover up the truth of the incident. As time goes on, we need people’s more interest and support to solve the problems related to the incident.”
