The post interviewed Kim Hee-chul, a student majoring in Management, currently an exchange student at MSU. He'll tell us more about MSU. Let's listen to him.
What are the advantages?
First of all, there are no hills in MSU unlike in Dongguk Unversity(DGU). The campus is huge and there are lots of buildings and it's very clean. There are also a lot of green areas around the school, so when the weather is great I usually lie on the grass and read books. And you don't have to worry about public security at this university. The campus is like a village, there is a police station on campus. If you're in the campus, you will always feel safe. You can also have an active cultural life in the campus; there are musical performances, movies in the theater and nice museums. Convenient student facilities are well provided; they include a planetarium, swimming pool, golf ranges, ice rink, fitness center, gymnasium in the campus. The class levels are not that high and the tests are easy to solve because they are all multiple choices. Therefore you don't have to worry about your grade too much if you study hard.
Are there any disadvantages?
I think it can be a problem because there are so many Korean students at MSU, so some students tend to get along with only Korean students. As exchange students you'd better keep distance from Korean students. If you don't try hard to speak and practice English, it is hard to improve your English. This place is not like Seoul. There are not many cultural or interesting places around MSU. It's not a big deal because we all can do lots of fun things on campus, including cultural activities.
Money does matter!
The total expense per semester is about $11,000 USD including tuition fee, dormitory cost and food expenses. You may think it's expensive. However, considering the university's good reputation and the high quality of education, I don't think it's too expensive. Other costs of living are minimal, except for the parties and buying some personal life necessities.
Tip & Advice
If you want to make friends with American students, you should know about their culture. Students at MSU are mad fans of football. MSU has its own football stadium. You must know about the football, so you can enjoy it and become intimate with them. Watching movies and playing games are also good ways to make friends. Actually, the fastest, the easiest, and the best way to make friends is drinking. A part-time job is prohibited at first semester, but you can have one at second semester. However, you can apply for part-time jobs only when you get a grade average more than 3.5. And don't forget that you should speak English fluently. Most of all, you need to develop your physical strength for studying here and have a positive attitude.

May/ AugustBrief Introduction
NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY(NSU) has more than 2200 students coming from 36 states and 20 foreign countries. NSU was established by the South Dakota Legislature in 1901 in response to the need for an institution of higher education to serve northern South Dakota.
Northern State University strives to build an academic community of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are committed to sharing diverse ideas in a mutually respectful environment. It values open discourse and consideration of multiple perspectives on issues of regional, national, and international importance, in which individuals are free to express their points of view.
The post interviewed Kim Eun-ji, a student majoring in English literature, currently an exchange student at NSU. She will tell us what we want to know. Let's listen to her.
What are the advantages?
Starting this year, NSU introduces an American roommate to every international students . This policy helps them to learn English more easily. The school also offers programs and orientation for us. It makes it easier for us to adapt to the new situation. NSU is famous for performing arts and gymnastics. It is equipped with modern conveniences for art and gymnastics. Unlike universities in Korea, there are many woman athletes. What I like most is the various school activities. All students are encouraged to participate in the various activities. In my case, I joined the club 'Woori' and KSA (Korean Student Association). The club 'Woori' teaches the Korean language to American students. Many Americans are interested in Korean, more than you could imagine. KSA helps Korean students to adapt to the school and introduces Korea to other students and faculty in the campus. Luckily, I was elected vice president of KSA so I could meet many people and have many valuable experiences. There are 5 dormitories on campus. It is prohibited to smoke and drink in dorm so there has been few problem until now.
What are the Disadvantages?
The prices in cafeteria are expensive; you pay $7 for every meals, so Korean students usually cook Korean food themselves. Aberdeen is a typical small town in mid-west. There are no distraction facilities like theaters and sports complexes. Sometimes I'm bored. And all exchange students must live in the dormitory even though off-campus residence is cheaper.
Money does Matter!
Last semester, the total expense including tuition fee, dormitory cost, insurance fee and food expenses was about $3,000 USD. But I heard scholarship from our school would decrease next semester. It is expected the total expense per semester will increase a little bit. But I think it is cheaper than exchange student programs at other universities.
Tip & Advice
Even though you are very timid, you should try to get close with American students. They never speak kindly to you at first. At the beginning of life at NSU, many exchange students are disappointed in their English language skills. However, you should try to speak in English more and more. The more active you are, the more you get.
