English Sitcoms by The Post and DUBSYou Sun-hee

"You should act as if your legs can't move..., let's do it once more," a producer in DUBS required to the actors and actress.  By the way, do you know how to say when you drank too much and forgot what happened?  You can see the right expression in www.donggukin.org

From March 2008, The Post, Campus English Magazine, and DUBS, Dongguk University Broadcasting System, have joined to provide well-qualified English sitcoms to the Donggukians.  In fact, the first joint program started in July 2007, with an interview with foreign professors in DongGuk International Summer School (DISS).

DongGuk University (DGU) also has opened the internet site called Donggukin to provide not only the sitcoms but also to give news and school-related information.  The first sitcom was about what to say when your leg goes numb during the class.  The second sitcom was about the expression "long face."  When you do not look well, why do they say "you have a long face?"  The third one was about rubber and glue, which means "you, too."  The script is about when one friend says you are silly and the other friend says you are silly back.  The fourth sitcom is about the situation when you drank too much and could not remember what you did the night before.  Do you know what you should say?  The answer is, I blacked out.

The Post talked with one of the reporters who participated in the English sitcoms.

<The following is the interview with the reporter of the Dongguk Post, Lee Min-jeong>

The Post: What was your first impression when you heard you were going to make a sitcom with DUBS?

Lee: Mainly post reporters are writing the scripts for the sitcoms and sometimes we also act.  By working together with the DUBS producers, we learned what producers do and how hard they work.  I will never forget when I acted in the sitcom. (Laugh)  To me acting is the most difficult part since I have not done it before.  Making many different facial expressions was a little embarrassing.  But after a while I started to enjoy it.  Overall, it was great experience for me.  I hope other post reporters will feel in the same way.

The Post: Are there any programs you would like to do with DUBS other than English sitcoms?

Lee: Well..., since the Dongguk Post is the only English magazine at our university, I would like to work on a program that introduces famous movie lines or sitcoms that are less serious. (Laugh)

The Post: Can you introduce 'Donggukin site' to the Donggukians who do not know about the web site yet?

Lee:  These days students are really busy with their school work and doing internships for so called 'specs'.  If you visit the Donggukin web site, you can easily see what is going on in the school because in some cases, it is hard to get the information you want.  I hope Donggukians will visit the site frequently and get the information they want.  Also I want students to enjoy sitcoms.  When you have free time, please visit the www.donggukin.org and see the sitcoms and the other contents we are offering.  This web site is for you!!  Also the post would like you to visit www.dgupost.com and read the new articles about the ins and outs of the DGU.  We always welcome comments from students.
