   Dongguk University’s founding committee was established. The launching ceremony and conference of the supreme and standing committee members were held at Main Hall on April 29th. The school founding committee consists of advisor, supreme council, standing committee, advisory panel, subcommittee, executive committee, secretariat, and so on. As for the secretariat, the office has been set up on the fifth floor of the Main Hall. 

   Ven Ja seung Sunim, who chaired the committee, emphasized in his greetings, “The school founding committee, which is launched today, should start with self-reflection and new commitments from members of the school. We need to take the lead in saving Korean Buddhism with the idea that restoration of Buddhism is the development of Dongguk University, and the development of Dongguk University is also the restoration of Buddhism.”

   The school founding committee will play a role in establishing strategies and plans, installing and organizing programs or facilities, and operating and supporting activities for implementing the founding philosophy of Dongguk University. An official at Dongguk University expressed expectation by saying, “Dongguk University, a Buddhist sect school, was founded in 1906 by pioneer monks to preserve the education and human resources. This year, 115 years since the opening of the school, the newly established school founding committee will lay the groundwork for the second foundation by implementing the founding ideology.”
