2018 entrance ceremony was held on February 22nd in Jang-chung gym at 10:00 A.M. In front of the gym, there were several booths to promote their own clubs or organizations to freshmen. In addition, before the ceremony started, Midongchu (Dongguk Promotion Committee for the Future) held a picket demonstration. It protested against intervention of Jogye Order and demanded for the President Han Tae-sik (Bogwang) to resign.

   In the beginning of the ceremony, the President Han granted the freshmen admission into Dongguk University and gave address for them. He said, “As a university student, there are lots of things to concern and decide. From now on, you have to choose many kinds of things such as selecting the courses, deciding jobs, and making friends. Rather than worrying too much, just practice what you decide. Even though you fail or regret, you can get your own special experiences from it.” In the latter half of the ceremony, Kim Sung-hoon, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, introduced faculties and professors presented.

   Following that, the welcoming ceremony for the freshmen began. Firstly, Kim A-na, the representative of a start-up business MUA and a Dongguk University student, gave a speech for the students. She mentioned, “As the word ‘YOLO’ means that we just want to enjoy our life not worrying about the future, the moments that we can start some challenges and enjoy them are allowed to the university students. I wish that all of the Doggukians can make the best use of the moments and enjoy their life.” In addition, some clubs including Baeksang, a cheering squad, and O.D.C, a street dance club, were on the stage. They gave many performances and then, the welcoming ceremony ended.
