Since the exposure of the scandal of Park Geun-hye administration to the public, a number of Donggukians made opposing movements towards the shadow ruler’s intervention in government administration.
On October 28th, 59 student organizations in Dongguk University, with the General Student Council (GSC) taking the lead, declared a campaign at Paljungdo.
Baek Ji-yoon, the head of the Institute of Political Economy, said, “Many students are concerned with the issue and are feeling frustration. Now is the time for us to show people how we, university students, can react to the ongoing corruption.”
The GSC also held a cultural festival to demand President Park’s resignation on November 3rd which is the students’ day. Baek Ji-won, the leader of a discussion club named “In Time,” remarked, “I hope there will be more opportunities like this where university students can freely raise their voices and play the most active role.”
On the same day, professors of Dongguk University showed their opposition towards Park administration by posting a joint statement on the walls of campus buildings. Kwon Sung-ku, the professor of the Department of Food Industrial Management, said, “A society that discourages youths could never be desirable. The current government should resign as soon as possible and a nonpartisan government should be established.”
