Stargirls by Jerry Spinelli

Who are you? What defines you? It can be either a very easy or hard question. In this book, Susan Caraway, the star girl, is not ordinary. Her mind, her actions and even her fashion are quiet far from other normal students. But through the story, she learns how to put herself in the society and fit it. However, she did not completely lose herself. At the end of the story, the other main male character Leo confesses that he often missed her, and he was deeply affected by her. The author wants to deliver a story of how an extraordinary girl learns to fin into her surroundings and yet does not forget to be herself. Through this interesting character’s story, who may remind you of Pippi Longstocking, you can build your own desire to be the kind of person who can leave your mark on others.
