The Buddhist service conducted in English was held at the Jeonggakwon, a temple located inside the campus of Dongguk University, on September 28th, 2011. Ven. Myungbeop, Buddhist nun who is foreigner gave audiences good advice entitled ‘Living Seon (Zen) in Modern Times’.
Even though English service, many Korean students came to service more than foreigners. “Life is practice, practice meditation every day. Ask yourself. First, is it okay? Second, what is my place? Third, are you happy? In modern times, there are many medias such as TV, newspaper and radio, etc. therefore, you become slave to medias and your own thought. Go mountain and find freedom of mind. With meditation, you can find the things in your life and find your own truth.” she said.
In this English Buddhist service, many Korean people had no difficulties in listening to and knowing about her speaking because Ven. Myungbeop spoke slowly and clearly for Korean students. After service, we had question time for many participants. In that time, we could share our thoughts about Buddhist.
This English Buddhist service will be held next month and will continue.
