Design Sample of Donggukche |
Dongguk University has created a new style of font called ‘Donggukche’. It is a font reinterpreted in the elegant handwriting of Guha Daejongsa, a pioneer of Korean Buddhism. It also contains the ideology of Dongguk University, which was built 116 years ago by Buddhist pioneers in the spirit of “education salvation” with the power of talent and immortality for the future of the country and the people.
This typeface has three morphological features. The first is the modern reconstruction. It maintained the feeling of Guha Sunim’s handwriting and reconstructed it modernly to express Dongguk University’s ideology, which is full of wisdom and mercy. The second is a soft bend. The bent part of the consonant was gently worked to express Guha Sunim’s smooth brush lines. The last feature is the power of neat handwriting and stroke. It emphasized readability by expressing Guha Sunim's neat handwriting and the power of a cool spreading stroke.
The font is distributed free of charge on Dongguk University’s website. All users can use it freely and commercially. It would be good to use ‘Donggukche’ when making assignments or works.
