On May 7th, five students majoring in Education and other courses visited the Seoul Junggu Youth Center. Their aim was to teach elementary school students as to the prevention of school violence.

This is just one project of “Sa Je Dong Hang”, a mentoring program organized by the College of Education. As “A Model College in the Promotion of a Healthy School Environment”, the college created “Sa Je Dong Hang” so as to fulfill its Model College’ status. The main aim of the program is to create harmony between mentor and disciple.

The “Sa Je Dong Hang” program is separated into three parts. The first part of the program focuses on “Education on the Prevention of the Violence”. The second one examines the plight of neglected children together with the creation of an inclusive program based on “Literacy Attainment and other Pedagogical Solutions”. The last part is to advance the idea of “Education on the Basis of Level and Aptitude.”

Lee Min-woo, a mentor majoring in Industrial System Engineering, said that “I like children and enjoy working with them, so I applied to be a mentor in this program. The children’s emotions improved when they joined this program. When I approached them, they were all so delighted that they saw me. Furthermore, I learned many things from them.”
