On the occasion of Buddha’s birthday in 2567, the “Wish Lantern Hanging” event will be held. It is an annual event held by Dongguk University, a Buddhist religious university, and is also welcomed and interested by many Donggukians. Around this time of year, there are also a lot of Donggukians who wonder when they start running the lantern, and a notice was issued.
The wish lantern can be applied in two ways. The first is the office of Jeonggakwon. Applications can be made from April 17th to May 26th. The second one is Paljeongdo. From April 20th to May 19th, applications will also be accepted in Paljeongdo. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, and are not open on weekends and holidays. The types of lanterns include white lanterns (all Donggukians, including undergraduate and graduate schools), which can be hung for free, and golden lanterns (re-students and ordinary people) that can be hung for 10,000 won. Proceeds from the application for seniority will also be returned to the School Education and Student Scholarship Fund.
