Where would you go between your classes? Maybe your department room or school cafe? Then, among school cafes, the Dongguk Post recommends the Hyehwa rooftop cafe! Let me tell you how you can go there. You can get to the rooftop only by elevator. Take the Hyehwa Hall elevator and get off on the 7th floor. Then you will be there! There are outdoor seats, and if the weather is nice, make sure to sit there. You can see the view through the cool breeze. Also, if it is not lunch time, there are not that many people, so you can spend your time leisurely.
You can just stay on the ground floor. Recently, hall of the first floor of Hyehwa Hall was remodeled. There are lots of tables and chairs like those in a cafe. You can freely use your laptop on the long table, which has some electric outlets. Actually, on the first floor of Hyehwa, many students pass by and wait for the elevator, which is right next to the hall, so it may be hard to concentrate on something, but it is a good place to rest for a while. If you are worried about where to go during your break time between classes, go to Hyehwa Hall first!
Various Convenient Facilities

I would like to introduce the various convenient facilities in Dongguk University to you. The first thing I want to introduce is copy machine. When we take various classes at the university, we use copy machines very often, including preparing for classes or submitting assignments. For the convenience of students, Dongguk University has copy machines in each building, so you do not have to worry. Most buildings, including Myeongjin Hall, Central Library, and Hyehwa Hall, are equipped with copy machines. Therefore, you can conveniently use them anytime, anywhere.
The second thing I want to introduce is Dahyang Hall, which is located across from Myeongjin Hall. In the basement of Dahyang Hall, there are many convenient facilities such as a cafeteria, an optical shop, a photo studio, a bookstore, and a stationery store. When we need to buy books or writing instruments, or take a picture, we can do everything at Dahyang Hall without going out of school. If you use the various facilities in Dahyang Hall, you will be able to enjoy a much more convenient school life.

When studying at the Central Library, students sometimes think of a place to go for a stroll. So, I would like to recommend a hidden attraction prepared in the Central Library of Dongguk University. Since Dongguk University is in the center of Seoul and has a wonderful view of Namsan Mountain, several rooftop gardens in the school utilize the geographical advantages. Among them, the rooftop garden of the Central Library features a splendid view of Seoul.
There are two ways to get to the rooftop of the Central Library. First, when you enter the main entrance of the library, go straight and you will see the stairs on the right. Follow the stairs to the fourth floor. Then, an entrance will be right in front of you. Pass the entrance and go up other stairs which is on your left. Now you can finally arrive at the rooftop garden. The second method is similar, but this time you can use the elevator to go to the fourth floor. As soon as you arrive at the rooftop garden, a clear view is waiting for you! This view might help you relieve the frustration and stress from studying. When you visit the rooftop garden after sunset, the light from cars and buildings makes a great scenery. Donggukians can see a wonderful view of Seoul at the Central Library easily. Furthermore, on the side of the rooftop garden, there is a “thinking chair.” When you have a headache with severe thoughts or need time to get healed, you can relax by sitting on this chair and looking at a very nice view.
In Front of Myeongjin Hall & Paljeongdo

Benches in front of Myeongjin Hall and Paljeongdo are perfect places to enjoy the weather outside in Dongguk University. In front of the Myeongjin Hall, which is the most beautiful building in Dongguk University, there are several benches and tables. Students can sit and lose themselves in thoughts or study here. In addition, right in front of the Myeongjin Hall is the Paljeongdo, the central plaza of the campus. This plaza, which embodies the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism, has benches everywhere, making it a good place to relax just like the benches in front of the Myeongjin Hall.
You can also feel the Buddhistic atmosphere here because the fountain with elephant statues and a Buddha statue are located at both ends of the plaza. Especially, during Buddha’s Birthday, the Buddhistic atmosphere doubles because beautiful lanterns are hanging all over Paljeongdo in this season. If you visit Dongguk University, do not forget to stop by the benches in front of Myeongjin Hall and Paljeongdo!
IC and IF Zone in the Central Library

Have you ever visited the central library of Dongguk University? Perhaps it is taken for granted that there is a library in the university and that students visit the library to borrow books or to study. However, Dongguk University’s central library has two special spaces that can be beneficial to students by giving convenience, rather than simply performing the functions of book rental or learning space. They are IC and IF zone. First of all, IC (Information Commons) zone is located on the third floor of the library and it is a collaborative learning space designed to share information. Since it is a space where collaboration is required, study rooms, seminar rooms, carrels and conference rooms are prepared in IC zone. Especially, unlike the spaces that accommodate multiple people and allow them to freely share opinions such as study rooms, seminar rooms and conference rooms, carrel is a single-person research and learning space for graduate students. Moreover, there are sofa and seats with computers in IC zone for students to rest.
IF (Information Forest) zone is a space for ICT(Information and Communications Technology)-based learning and creative activities and it is located on the second floor of the central library. It can be easily found when passing the entrance as it is next to the front desk. In IF zone, there are various multimedia-based learning facilities to enjoy learning and cultural activities. Computers are provided so that students can find information, do assignments or study. Also, a notebook zone is also arranged where students can do works with their own devices. In addition, IF zone has a presentation room for students to prepare for their presentation, so if you want to rehearse the presentation, reserve the space in advance and then rehearse it in an independent room. Moreover, a watching corner where students can watch movies and TV programs while sitting on a comfortable sofa is available at IF zone. It is suitable for relieving stress and spending time. Therefore, the Dongguk Post recommends the students to visit the IC zone and IF zone where enjoying cultural life and learning activities are possible.
