Dream PATH Becomes a Better Path for Donggukians

   Dream PATH, the integrated competency management system developed for the first time among universities in Korea in 2014, has been reorganized this semester. Dream PATH System means students’ path and process of preparing for the future. Also,  “PATH” refers to “Pathfinding” future, “Analyzing” environment, “Thinking” critically, and school’s “Helping” for these processes. Many changes have been made through this reorganization.

   First of all, the channels for managing extracurricular programs have been unified.  Previously, it had to be managed through department homepage or e-mail and uDRIMS, Dongguk University’s renovated information management system as well as Dream PATH, but now every process is possible in the new integrated competency management system. Departments related to extracurricular programs, students, and professors all need to access at only one system. In addition, the counseling systems have been integrated to One-stop service. Through this service, it became easier to book and manage various counseling needed in campus life, such as counseling with professors or learning counseling. This helps student set career directions and provides department or career information.

   Next, the newly reformed Dream PATH will inform Donggukians of their customized information via e-mail or text message. There is also a way to find information directly. After logging in, at My Page, students can check the roadmap for the desired field and get information about their degree of competency achievement and related programs. The community function has also been strengthened, making it easier to share information among students and activating operations at the same time. Students can write reviews of extracurricular programs or share information about employment. The comment function is also activated so that students can view information left by other students and leave comments. Through this function, students can also get feedback from their friends and professors.

   The upgraded Dream PATH supports the mobile environment, so student can access Dream PATH via smartphones and tablet PC, making it easier to access. Also, in order to motivate students to actively participate, the scholarship system shall be reorganized by adding extracurricular program participation as a new criterion. In addition, while Dream PATH was linked to the subjects for the freshmen and sophomore until now, from now on, it will be also used in the subjects that junior and senior students usually listen to, such as Capstone Design and start-up subjects.

   According to Competency Development Center, the background of the update of Dream PATH is to establish an integrated competency management system to cultivate men of talent suitable for the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. They also added, “The purpose is to establish an integrated management system that allows students to design and develop their careers throughout the curriculum.”  and extracurricular activities for the entire student cycle from admission to graduation.”
