Honestly, it is nonsense to describe The Dongguk Post as “shelter” to me. During four semesters in The Dongguk Post, I gave up being an ordinary university student. I had to be a “reporter” and work solely on maintaining this group. I complained, “I am a student, not a reporter!” Of course, this complaint might sound absurd since I am a “student reporter.” But whenever my priority had to be working as a reporter over my daily life, I thought The Post was a kind of obstacle. Sometimes I blamed other resigned reporters since the rest of the reporters had to handle too many tasks to fill up the vacancies. At that time, I thought they were not responsible for their positions and did not care about other members. Being left in the group, Ji-min, Yoo-jeong, and I called each other, “Slaves of The Post.” As editors of The Dongguk Post, we depended on each other. I tried to be a person whom they could lean on. But looking back now, I think I am not sure if I was that kind of person for them. I feel sorry about that. From now on, I am not a reporter anymore. I get to live as an ordinary university student. I always wished for this moment, but now that I am facing it, I am really sad. Most of my “first” moments in life are related to The Dongguk Post. My first interview, my first business card, my first desk, seniors, juniors, colleagues... These experiences and people are precious presents I gained from working in this group. I could overcome lots of hardships thanks to my colleagues. Especially, I would like to thank Ji-min and Yoo-jeong, who worked alongside me the entire time I was a reporter. After leaving this group, my priority will change from The Dongguk Post to myself. I wonder how much I have improved since after I joined this group. I know the toughest thing in my early twenties was working as a student reporter, but I have never regretted joining this group. I cannot describe my early twenties without mentioning The Dongguk Post. I am glad I spent this time working in it. I will never forget every moment as a student reporter. Goodbye everyone, goodbye The Dongguk Post!
