The General Student Council (GSC) held a cultural festival on the second day of the cooperative gathering in front of the Main Hall, on August 11, 3:00 P.M.

An Dre, the chairperson of the GSC started the festival with his speech, addressing the outline of the Life-long Education College plan, the process of their rejection to the plan, and stating that they will continue to reject until the plan becomes withdrawn. The chairperson especially emphasized on the fact that the school has been lacking communications with the students and that the time remaining before the 2018 administration starts is not enough for the new college to properly function.

Later during the afternoon, the GSC prepared different actions with the students to show their objection toward the promotion of the Life-long Education College plan. A sing-along was performed, with lyrics such as “Oh Bultong (No Communication) Dongguk University”, a parody of the 2002 national cheering song. In addition, the students at the festival each had their say on the issue. Kim Doi Une, a freshman of the Political Science and Diplomacy Major, confessed her thoughts about the behavior of the school. “As a the member of the student-council during my high school years, I never knew that the university student council could be ignored by the school as much as the Dongguk GSC,” she said.

The festival ended at 5:00 P.M., which was continued as a debating session after an hour of break. Meanwhile, one of the students managed to enter the closed Main Hall, and found out that the students at the gathering were being monitored by a security camera. The students found the camera, sealed it with a paper, and carried on their discussion. However, the debate was soon halted in a sudden as a school faculty came to take off the paper blocking the camera. During the process, a student who tried to stop the faculty was shoved and fell to the ground, and the quarrel came to an end only when a team of faculty arrived to stop further arguments. The students chanted “Faculties get out” until the team was out of the scene.
