With the result of secret vote, the 203rd Central Provisional Meeting of Jogye Order did not allow Ven Ilmyun Sunim to be the next board of director. On the other hand, President Han Tae-sik (Bogwang) received the recommendation.
Ven Ilmyun Sunim got 40 negative votes and 31 positive votes from secret vote that was implemented at the 203rd Central Provisional Meeting, while President Han (Bogwang) took 54 positive votes, 16 negative votes and one undervote. Consequently, Ilmyun Sumin failed to be the next board of director, but President Han (Bogwang) was re-elected as a member of board of director. Although the secret vote was carried out to remove all doubts on several directors, it could not filter all director candidates implicating suspicion out for this once.
As Ven Ilmyun Sunim failed the re-election of a board of director, it is concerned that he will finish his term of director on December, 19th or the next committee will recommend him as the director candidate again.
Meanwhile, The Student Council intensively welcomed the decision due to Ven Ilmyun Sunim’s past actions. Ven Ilmyun Sunim is one of the central figures who bring out President Situation. Also, he tended to interrupt Dongguk University students to communicate with the person interested about the President Situation. Moreover, since he has not explained “a charge of the larceny of Heungguksa Taenghwa”, The Student Council cannot agree with the result of vote more.
