To commemorate the 108th anniversary of Dongguk’s foundation, a special ceremony was held on September 17th at Lotus Hall, to officially appoint 19 famous graduates of Dongguk University as celebrity ambassadors for the university. Kim Hee-ok, the President of Dongguk University, Shin Young-sub, the President of College of Arts, Ven Beopta Sunim, the executive of Jeonggakwon, and celebrities including Lee Deok-hwa, Lee Kyung-kyu, Yoon-a, and Son Na-eun took part in the appointment ceremony. This ceremony is for the university to make a new leap like having a building that represents Dongguk. Since the celebrities who attended are famous in acting and theater field, they have already done a lot to help Dongguk University’s reputation. Those stars will be perfect ambassadors for promoting and enhancing Dongguk University’s reputation. At 11 A.M. in the morning, a lot of people gathered in front of the Main Hall to see the popular stars. The entrance of the Main Hall became more crowded, waiting for the stars to come. At Lotus Hall, reporters from major news networks were moving around for the best place to shoot. The celebrities embraced each other, and took their seats with restless faces. The appointment ceremony began with greeting all attendants, introduced the meaning of it. After that, Kim Hee-ok gave letters of appointment and badges to them. The celebrities also wrote some encouraging messages and signed their signatures on papers and mugs. Those signature papers will be used for promotion and displayed later. The General Student Council is going to sell those mugs at bazaar and the money will be donated to an organization helping unfortunate neighbors. Heo Ga-yoon, a student of the Division of Theatre, said she is proud of being a student of Dongguk and she will do her best to uphold the image of the university. Lee Kyung-kyu said, “We can never change the school we graduated from while it is so easy to change citizenship, spouse, and so on. It was a nice choice for me to come to here, Dongguk. I will do my best to promote my school.” Yoon-a, a member of Girl’s Generation, mentioned, “I want to be the one who makes Dongguk shine just like what my seniors are doing. I will do my best to promote my school.” Kim You-seok said, “I am a Donggukian.” Kim Hee-ok said that the application for the Division of Theatre ended on September 15th, with the odds of admission reaching one in a hundred. He continued, “It shows that the Division of Theatre has a high reputation and it comes from star alumni’s activities. We are proud of you all here, and hope you to be the world beloved stars.”
