<Cho Ryeo-jin, The Dongguk Post reporter> I visited Bejing to report about olympic culture and meet chinese. Before arriving there, I could not decide what I had to report specifically. However, after meeting some foreign cheer teams on the street, I wanted to interview them as a global "Post" reporter.I met so many foreigners from Mexico, Germany, Russia and France. All of them were very proud about their countries and so enthusiastic. They cheered their team even out of the stadium. They usually played some music instruments and sang songs. They seemed to enjoy olympic games sincerely just as sports. I was so impressed. However, Chinese were different. They were too excited and sometimes interrupt other teams only for cheering their team. I think they just enjoyed their own events, not the world festival. The world is unpleasant because of their bad manner. On conclusion, I went to Beijing to meet chinese and talk with them but I just met impressive foreigners who know how to enjoy olympic games rather than chinese. I really hope them to close this festival peacefully. And I really appreciate to our school that gave me opportunities to see wider world.
<Cha Eun-bit, Chinese language and literature department> When we do what we want and enjoy it, it feels like one minute even if we have done it for long time. For me, it felt like 10 minutes during 10 days in Beijing. All my thought occupied with the passion when I go to Beijing as a student reporter. However, it was hard for me to find article items, have a interview with people and write an article, because I have never done this before. Even though the students press group had conferences to choose items and learned how to cover news and write articles, I just could not stay myself away from a heavy anxiety and burden. However, when I first stepped to Beijing, my heavy anxiety and burden suddenly disappeared because of the energy and excitement in Beijing. Meeting lots of people from all over the world who truly enjoy the Olympics made me to socked in the energy of Beijing Olympics like them. "You can see a method when you do what you want to do, you can only see an excuse when you don't." Like those words, all my mind and thought were filled with passion that I wanted to put things about Beijing into my article, and then I could figure out what to cover and what to write. So I could meet varied and sincere side of China and people, hanging around China. It was such a nice opportunity for me. From this activity, I could look back upon myself, widen my outlook on life and think what I truly want to do. Xie xie, Beijing!
<Jung Dong-hun, Dongdaeshinmun> I had finished reporting in Beijing for ten days. I've never been abraod before visiting Beijing as a repoter, I was nervous about the my first tour abroad. Thanks to many Donggukians' help, I could finished my reporting beijing Olympic. I had worried about language because I could speak well neither Chinese nor English. I got relief from all my anxiety as soon as I arrived in Beijing. Many exchange students and alumni children helped us. I stayed alumni's home during my visiting Beijing. His family was so nice that I was under the illusion that I was in my home. They really took care of me as their family, I could enjoy my first tour abroad. Both Olympic student reporters and amuni could become one as Donggukians. We helped each other, we finished our job very well. Our article that coverd through our own fresh idea released to Joins.com (one of major internet newspaper). The official slogan for 2008 Beijing Olympic is "one world, one dream". I think what we realized in Beijing is "one dongguk, one dream".
<Jang Yong-seok, DUBS>Me and Mi-rim, who is my colleague in DUBS, made a team and chose items and shooted the videos. We had a hard time at first, because we argued a lot about what we are going to cover in Beijing. However once we met alumni of our university on first day, our concerns disappeared at once, because they gave us lots of coverage sources. I had covered a lot during ten days such as: Qinhuangdao stadium, the opening ceremony in the streets, archery events, cheering party of North Korea and so on. Thus, I had to give up to rest or sleep at night for editing lots of videos we shooted. I could barely sleep for 10 days. The most memorable time is wen we were editing the program 'Reporter Jang's Don't ask Experience report'. That program was not planned previously. On the way we were collecting news, we decided to make this, because we thought it would be very funny. We had interviewed many people in the street and stadium even if it was really hard to communicate with them in different languages. All we thought at that time was: "We are over if we cannot make people laugh with it." We were under pressure of 'people's laugh', so we considered to give up in halfway, but we did not give up and made it. After we uploaded it to website, people really liked it, so it was worthwhile to do this. Besides this, we went through all sorts of troubles like being lost in Beijing on the way to collect news. But we overcame all of it, thanks to a nice chinese student's help and our fine teamwork. My first coverage to abroad. Even though I was not an official reporter, it was enough experience for me to step forward for my future.
