As for the freshmen, they tend to go buck wild pouring down liquors, socializing with their new friends, all exited and giggly. If someone were to ask what's causing all this stimulation, the probable answer would be that they have finally extricated themselves from university entrance exam which must have been like hell for the students in Korea. The trouble is, getting so obsessed with playing around with their friends and with their school activities which involves mostly drinking, they sometimes forget the most essential element-stuffing some knowledge into your brain. A lot of the graduated students cannot recall what they have learned, since from the very beginning, their goal was to graduated ASAP, but not to acquire knowledge. The ironic part of all this is that for the men, they actually realize the importance of studying after they are done with their military services when they say there is nothing you get from joining the army. Maybe there is a use of this after all.  Sometimes being independent can be more of a help to your personal life when looking at it in a long term. I would not dare to say stop your social life and stay away from your "having fun" but do not just waste your precious time coming to school to amuse yourself with your friends, missing out its essence, why you really should come to school. I, myself have been wandering with time gains nothing but dissipation. Here are some of the advantage you can take for being independent and of course, being independent doesn't make you a loner as some people would judge. To start with, when you become independent, you obviously gain more time since one does not have to spend their time socializing. I am not trying to imply that socializing is not important, it is very cardinal as matter of fact, but do not socialize just because you are lonely and bored. That will only weaken yourself. I believe a strong spends' their time somehow lonesome with solitude. If one cannot learn to bear this, they are easily to be collapsed in later of their life. By gaining more time you can use them more wisely such as studying, thinking about your goal, taking steps toward that goal and maybe even meditating can be a help spending time alone. More studies means more chance of getting a scholarship and absolutely a better grade. Think about all the benefits you can make by using your time wisely and sensibly. When I look at the students that has just entered our university spending their time without a clue of where they are heading. I feel very pitied. I guess one cannot learn the value of time in university unless they get a chance to experience the world out there.  There are merits and demerits whether you are independent or dependent, relying on your school buddies. However, one thing to remember is that the buddy of yours cannot guarantee the life of yours especially when we cannot foresee our future. If anything would happen as a consequence from your "having fun" during your university life, the responsibility is yours to take. Independent or dependent, if we can appropriately blend the two kind with the wise time to use. I guess it cannot turn out to be better.
