   On February 22nd, Dongguk University held the 2022 entrance ceremony at 2 P.M.. Under the slogan of “Separately but also together,” both face-to-face and non-face-to-face events were held at the same time. Freshmen who newly enter Dongguk University in 2022 came to their own college building and communicated with the screen. Including the chairman of the board, the president of Dongguk University, the president of the alumni association, the president of the school affairs department, and the president of Jeonggakwon, many professors attended there. Lee Jung-min, a Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) announcer from Dongguk University, was the host.

   There were various events and performances. There was a metaverse performance introducing Paljeongdo, Myeongjin Hall and the Central Library of Dongguk University. The deans of each department made a video to greet freshmen. Students from the Division of Theatre showed a musical gala show and dance performance. Dongguk University Broadcasting System (DUBS) interviewed freshmen and the dean of each department.

   Yoon Sung-yee, the president of Dongguk University, greeted freshmen. He explained three of our school mottos; wisdom; mercy; improvement. He said, “Feel free to explore wisdom based on truth and knowledge. Live a life of being generous and full. Keep improve your life with upright body and mind.” He also advised students, “You always should be grateful and thoughtful, and you will live a successful life. I hope everyone to live a creative and happy university life.” Ven. Sungwoo Sunim, the chairman of the board of Dongguk University, explained the history of Dongguk University. He said, “When the school first established, it was Myeongjin University, which means moving forward to a bright glow. Dongguk University means the university of the country of courteous people in the East, Korea.” He also greeted freshmen, “We feel happy that the freshmen became Dongguk family. Act with a sense of ownership no matter when, where, and what the individual does.” The president of the alumni association gave congratulatory messages to freshmen and said, “350,000 alumni are going to try their best for freshmen to become future leaders. I hope you to become a person who moves forward even farther than our alumni in the various fields.”
