On March 20, 2024, the third day of the public hearing for the Dongguk University elections was held. The public hearing was held at the Central Auditorium at Dongguk University starting at 6:00 P.M. The proceedings went in the order of the School of Buddist Student Council By-Election Branch ‘Banditbul’, the College of AI Convergence Representative Council By-Election Branch ‘Saeron’ and the College of Business Student Council By-Election Branch ‘Clover,’ concluding around 8:30 P.M. Over the course of approximately three and a half hours, intense questioning and answers took place, with additional questions directed at the candidates.

Amidst numerous questions, the Dongguk Post would like to particularly focus on and describe every Student Council Election Branch, which garnered the most attention and received the highest number of questions. The Dongguk Post asked three questions for 'Saeron', three questions for 'Banditbul', and two questions for 'Clover', except for questions that overlap with other media.

1. the College of AI Convergence Representative Council By-Election Branch ‘Saeron’

Q1. As the representative meeting is launched as one unit, I think it is important to establish the election enforcement rules and audit rules according to the AI Convergence University, so I wonder if you have any specific thoughts on the detailed rules within the representative meeting.

A1. I haven't thought of any specific details yet. However, rather than discussing this with us right away, we will try to stabilize the AI convergence college, which is currently in turmoil, by deciding on the shortcomings through a meeting with the representatives of the first student council last year.

Q2. I think it is better to provide the audit results in various ways using open chat rooms or notice rooms at AI Convergence University, not only on SNS, but I wonder why you didn't take that method.

A2. The SNS we mentioned includes all the open chat rooms and notice rooms of AI Convergence University. However, I think the window that many classmates can easily check is SNS such as Instagram. Open chat rooms or notice rooms have the disadvantage that the number of people who came in late cannot check the notice, so they will mainly increase accessibility by posting it on Instagram posts. It seems appropriate to announce that the audit results have been posted on Instagram or link tree in the notice room. Since it is the first representative meeting, promotion through Instagram may not be effective, which will allow more people to receive information immediately through social media by conducting follow events through collaboration with the student council.

Q3. I would like to ask your thoughts on what you think is necessary for a fair election to proceed.

A3. First of all, the election process must be fair and transparent. All information and procedures related to the election process, including the date, location, registration process of candidates, voting methods and regulations, and the announcement of the election results, must be disclosed. All stages of the election process, including ballot issuance, election operation and counting, will be disclosed so that all classmates can have confidence in the election process. Voters must verify their identity when voting. Candidates should not receive preferential treatment due to personal reasons, and in the event of fraud, they should report to the National Election Commission to ensure that reliable elections can be held

2.  the College of Buddist Student Council

Next was a question-and-answer session with the College of Buddhist Studies Student Council Candidate. The candidates for the College of Buddhist Studies Student Council listed the expansion of friendship events, the expansion of student autonomy space, and the active promotion of academic activities as their main campaign pledges. The candidates said that the attitudes and competencies that a student council should have been the ability to distinguish between public and private affairs, the ability to communicate, and the confidence to express opinions. Questions from the campus press followed. There were questions about revitalizing the College of Buddhist Studies events and expanding event scoring opportunities. Explaining the characteristics of the College of Buddhist Studies where event scores are reflected in scholarships, they said that events are important, but undergraduates do not seem to participate in events with genuine interest, so they are planning events that can interest students and increase participation rates. They also plan to distribute the event points through a meeting with the Office of Academic Affairs every semester. There was also a question about the academic temple stay. The candidates promised to add academic content to the existing event. The existing autumn exploration while offering a temple stay experience, was more of a relaxation program, so the plan is to go beyond that and allow undergraduates to experience the theories and practices they learned while studying Buddhist majors and deepen their understanding of Buddhism. The curriculum will be centered on Zen, one of the concepts of Buddhism, and there are also plans to partner with service clubs within the College. They further elaborated on pledge to expand academic exchange. The candidate said that various academic exchanges are essential, and that they would provide opportunities for Q&A sessions with Buddhist monks and professors who have studied Buddhism so that Buddhist students can solve questions they have in their majors.

3. the College of Business Student Council By-Election Branch ‘Clover'

Q1. Among the planning projects, memory-making events such as Tokyo Necut seem to have been around for a long time, so I wonder if there are any discriminatory event items unique to 'Clover'.

A1. I think I can tell you the difference between clovers in the two main events. Following the traditional Doba production, last year, the deputy candidate formed a TF team to produce fleece, and the response was very good. As such, we plan to produce/co-purchase goods that can be used throughout the four seasons, and we plan to produce goods such as key rings/cups. The second is after the even line. While traditional after-the-line events were meant to connect incoming and outgoing students, Clover plans to arrange a place where students can receive help such as employment and school life by connecting them with their seniors.

Q2. I wonder if the exchange meeting between departments is academic or aimed at socializing, and I wonder if you have any thoughts on business planning according to your purpose.

A2. In conclusion, exchange meetings between departments are aimed at socializing. There are two main projects to be planned. First, it is an interdepartmental soccer competition. This is because I think the first step in exchange is for both players and cheerleaders to feel a sense of belonging to each department and share the same space while feeling a sense of rivalry. Next, it is the formation of the TF team of the department student council. Through exchanges between the department student council, I expect that I will be able to reflect more of the opinions of students from various departments and make them feel a sense of community and unity.
