The 2023 joint public hearing was progressed yesterday(23st) at the middle auditorium on the third floor of the main building of the Seoul campus. The joint public hearing was conducted in the order of the candidate's opinion presentation, questions from the media in the school responses from the candidate, and written questions from the participants. The public hearing was attended by the Dongguk Post, DGU Press, DUBS, and Donggukians.

The first order of public hearing was a "Prologue" from the College of Education. The Dongguk Post would like to hear a specific explanation of the 'Owl study room.' The law library is also open 24 hours a day during exam periods, so we wonder if students will use it if it is a nighttime project. We are concerned about the waste of school resources if not many students use it, so we are curious about how you plan to proceed. In response, the college said, "As I said earlier, the Owl Study Room Project is a project that was implemented every year by the Student Council of the College of Education to help students improve their studies by opening the College of Education's reading room inside Haklim Hall for 24 hours during the examination period." In addition, in the case of concerns about wasting resources, it is expected that the demand for the library will be sufficient because we know that the competition for access to the law library is fierce during the current examination period." "In fact, the feedback on the owl study room project that has been implemented so far has been positive, so I don't think there will be any waste of resources," they added.

Then, The Dongguk Post asked for a detailed explanation of what a 'Vitamin Camp' is and why it's necessary. In response to this, they said "The Vitamin Camp project is a project that has been implemented in the past, and in consultation with local children's centers, it is organized in the form of an educational service camp for about a week during the school holidays to connect the educational service of the students of the Normal University." In addition, "Since 60 hours of educational service is designated as a mandatory graduation requirement for normal universities, we judged that it was very helpful to the students of the Normal University, so we selected it as a seamless pledge."

Finally, we asked about the utilization of the Underground space. And then, they response "The underground space will be utilized for two main purposes. The first is to provide rental services only to authorized organizations within the college, and the second is to use the space for cultural projects such as movie screenings on a regular basis on set dates such as culture days. Currently, the university's basement seminar rooms are still being rented out, but due to high demand, there are cases where students are unable to use them all at their desired time, so the university has made a pledge to utilize the basement space to provide additional rental space. The seminar rooms that are currently being rented out are also targeted at students of the College of Education, and as the student government of the College of Education aims to promote the welfare of students, we will limit the project to students of the College of Education."

The second sequence of public hearing was a "ICON" of the College of AI Convergence . The Dongguk Post asked about the conversation project with professors, "The Dongguk Post wonder if it is a place where multiple professors and students can talk at the same time or if it connects individual students and professors to talk, and if it is the former, it seems that there are limitations in dealing with the specific situation of each student, so how do you plan to proceed. They answered about that question, "As previously answered, we will be matching students with advisors. We're going to limit the number of students to 5-6 per group so that each student can have a more in-depth conversation with their professor, and so that the professor can talk to each student for at least 10 minutes. In the unlikely event that we have a large number of participants, we will organize a two-part program. We'll also be eating and talking together for about an hour or two, so we expect to be able to get to know each student's story."

Next, The Dongguk Post asked about the hackathon they were planning to run. We also asked whether the purpose of the event was to promote the professionalism of students or to create a space for students to come together, and asked how they plan to pursue their goals. And then, their response about that question is "The hackathon will create a place where students can participate and promote their professionalism at the same time. If you want to create a place where students can participate together, I think there are various events other than the hackathon, such as M.T. or the Freshman New Learning Place. AI Convergence University's hackathon is an event where students can directly utilize what they have learned and produce results with their teammates, not alone. We plan to promote it with the aim of fostering communication and cooperation among students, as well as deepening their expertise in learning. We will also provide professional help from professors within the Ai Convergence University so that all students who participate can learn."

In the case of the College of the Arts, the student council did not run, so only questions were asked about candidates for the delegates. The candidates were asked mainly questions related to the rules and communication. In response, first of all, candidates think there are some parts that school does not know and understand the situation of art colleges accurately, and there are parts that lack understanding of College of the Arts. If students ask for improvement in the bylaw of college, they think they will focus on those areas. In fact, there are no bylaw in art colleges right now, so if there is a chance, they would like to make the bylaw that can reflect the situation of art colleges. When asked if they were willing to communicate directly because it would be difficult to expect high participation from students due to the nature of the College of the Arts, they answered as follows. First of all, they think students know little about the work of the delegates itself, so they are a little worried that what kind of activities they do clearly will cause confusion for students. They think the role of the student council is bigger in that area, so they can ask the student council to listen to the students’ opinions to some extent.

Candidates for the student council of College of Police and Criminal Justice argued for the following three major pledges. Through support and activation of Jinseongje, they will promote academic enthusiasm of students preparing for exams, induce successful results, and hold CSI competitions to enable new experiences and exchanges. In addition, through the Campus Police Idea Competition, they aim to improve the existing plan of campus police and to establish a relationship between undergraduate students through participation in the system in addition to study and academic content through new attempts.

The Dongguk Post says that study group support and small group support within the faculty are somewhat similar policies. We like to ask how you will support the groups of the two policies separately. Also, if a large number of small groups are formed, the screening criteria will be important, and we wonder if you have them. Asked about the study group and small group applications, the two candidates said that the current small group of College of Police and Criminal Justice includes soccer, basketball, and health, which is literally a system for certificates or people preparing for certain exams, which is completely different from small group. The study group will receive applications from three to five undergraduate students and provide financial support for each study group to about four to five teams, and the screening criteria will be selected through an internal meeting of the student council, with the appropriateness, necessity, and feasibility of the plan to be completed when receiving the application. In addition, when asked about the CSI competition, candidates said that the CSI competition began before the COVID-19 crisis and continued to be held since face-to-face activities were normalized, and all participants in this year’s competition gave positive reviews. Since it went smoothly, there will be no special difference in the competition itself, and if there are any differences, it is important to come up with measures to make the problems in this year’s competition more difficult or to make the time allocation more efficient.

The following are questions and answers about candidates for College of Police and Criminal Justice. The Dongguk Post thinks there will be student rules that do not fit with the current student society in running College of Police and Criminal Justice. In this regard, we would like to ask you how to improve it or if you have any other amendments in mind. The candidate first said that they have never thought that there are any wrong school rules during their school life, and if they are elected and become a delegate, they will collect opinions from academy people through a briefing session later and revise them if there is anything wrong. Plus, we asked that safety checks on the progress of the event seem to be the role of the student council. In this regard, when asked if there was a plan to coordinate with the student council, they answered as follows. First of all, it would be hard to say that they had to coordinate something in advance because the candidates for the student council and they are still candidates. However, based on the actual audit content, they will tell the student council that they can participate in the field audit and conduct the exploration together.
