Debut essay from the 57th reporters

The Dongguk Post recruitment notice, which was attached to the school building, came to my mind. The recruitment notice was a kind of revelation to me, because I have been hearing from my friend working as a student reporter at another university and thought that she was amazing. At that time, I was worried about my lack of experience in using English while majoring in English literature, and I thought I should do meaningful activities at school. In this way, I filled out the application and became a cub reporter for the Dongguk Post. As I filled out the application, the role of a reporter became more attractive. Although the article to convey information was different from a piece of writing literature which I like to do, I was also looking forward to engaging future activities where I could write articles for various purposes.

As a cub reporter, my work always has given me new challenges. When I first wrote an article, I was worried if I could write an article because I was still inexperienced. I have seen countless tips for writing articles and visited numerous websites to set the topic of the article to look for materials. It was also attractive to write a lot of information in one piece. I always used to write what I thought in my major classes, but it was a new challenge considering that I had to help others and provide opportunities to think. It was also a challenge for me to ask for an interview. Making phone calls was one of the things I struggled with. However, I was supposed to do it and when I finally did it, the kind reaction of others made me realize it is not difficult. In particular, this edition is meaningful for me because I filled the interview page with my first article as a post reporter. Talking and interviewing someone with a topic of interest is now fun without feeling difficult. The Dongguk Post is expanding my limits little by little.

Even though it was an activity for one semester, the newspaper office became the most comfortable place in the school and the place where future activities are more expected. In particular, the activities that are trying to make more people interested in newspapers are once again leading me to new places. The Dongguk Post is invigorating my flat university life. While proofreading, my eyes feel like falling out, and when the articles are not written well, my head is throbbing, but I feel closer to English and I can be more interested in school and the world. I will work harder for myself and the Dongguk Post.
