A university newspaper is an institution that covers news and events in the university and provides them to students. We report on various topics related to school, collect students’ opinions, and deliver information and news about college life. Most universities have the authority to freely cover and report on academic insurance. Student insurance companies can report on various topics such as internal school events, student activities, school policy changes, and faculty research. This right to cover guarantees the independence and autonomy of academic insurance companies and plays a role in providing students with various opinions and perspectives.

However, some newspapers are experiencing problems such as refusal and restriction of coverage. Various cases have been raised in which each university headquarters neglects student reporters or is uncooperative in covering them, making it difficult to cover them. It is often limited by relationships with universities and other stakeholders. The Dongguk Post has also had limited reporting rights for reasons that are not valid. We were not convinced and wanted to regain the right to report, but we stopped because we did not want to create any more disturbances.

We were angry and unfair, but the reason why we never stop is because of “responsibility.” Despite many difficulties, each university’s academic insurance company still exists. Both Korean and English newspapers remain responsible to elicit voices from the student community. The school newspaper essentially delivers the news of the school and must represent the voices of the students. Therefore, the Dongguk Post will make more efforts to become a newspaper company that can convey students’ voices without violating its editorial rights.
