In the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, held from February 4th to 20th, there were Korean athletes that received particular attention. Many spotlights were also seen on athletes that won medals with outstanding performance, but at this Olympics, many spotlights were also seen on the attitudes and minds of athletes participating in the Olympics. It is no exaggeration to say that they received the most attention, including Kwak Yoon-gy of short track speed skating, Kim A-lang of short track speed skating, and Team Kim of curling, showed a “teamwork spirit” that permeated the true sports spirit.
Despite playing as players from the same country, with players focusing only on playing with each other as rivals and setting their value by the color of medals, Korean players’ teamwork touched many people’s hearts and showed a beautiful sports spirit. When other team members faced difficulties, they filled the shortcomings faster than anyone else and helped all players train and achieve results in a comfortable and stable environment. In addition, when they made a mistake, they embraced each other, and showed the moment when teamwork was displayed in real time. The players, who showed such good teamwork, rewarded the citizens with their good performance, and the citizens were moved by the beautiful teamwork spirit of the players.
I think this teamwork is a necessary competency not only in sports, but also in all groups that work as a group. In 2022, I will take office as the new editor-in-chief of the Dongguk Post. Currently, the Dongguk Post publish newspapers with a total of four reporters. It is no exaggeration to say that all tasks within the Dongguk Post, such as those who write articles after reporting, those who edit pages, manage SNS accounts, and those who manage and supervise everything, are based on teamwork. As such, I think “teamwork” is really important to lead an organization and to exert good influence and increase achievement within that organization.
I always keep in mind that true teamwork leads the organization to the right path, and pledge to create a group that can contain warm, critical and interesting articles together with the members I work with. The value of our group is determined by the Dongguk Post itself.
