I bet you or some of your friends have suffered or are suffering from wisdom teeth. Most jaws are done growing by the time a person is 18 years old, while most wisdom teeth usually emerge when a person is around 17~25 years old, which is why they are called “wisdom teeth.” One study found that at least 53 percent of people had at least one wisdom tooth coming in. Some people get their wisdom teeth pulled out just because their wisdom tooth has erupted. However, Donggukians should be aware of the fact that not all wisdom teeth have to be removed. Other than these seven cases, even if wisdom teeth grow straight, they can irritate the gums around them and cause pain. In this case, however, it may not be necessary to remove wisdom teeth, since it can function as a large molar while preserving it for a long time when thoroughly managed after proper treatment. Therefore, the Dongguk Post wants to recommend Donggukians to be careful not to make a mistake of undergoing unnecessary removals by fully understanding the current condition of your wisdom teeth.
