On November 10th, the first CSI contest was hosted by College of Police and Criminal Justice of Dongguk University. It was held at the Main Hall. Seo Ju-yeong, the Sophomore of College of Police and Criminal Justice said, “At first, we planned an event making ‘The accident organizing Take Force,’ which creates accident scenario and the scene of it. However, thankfully, a lot of people applied, so we created a related club in order to join with more people. The CSI contest is the first splendid event from our club.”

The contest was consisted of two parts. At part one, there were “analyzing the scene of accident” by participating teams consisting of five people, “witness interview,” and “writing report.” At the second part, scientific crime detection & profiling lecture, audience experience of crime scene, report screening and award ceremony were progressed. Seo Ju-yeong commented, “Experienced professors gave direction of making a mock accident scene. Also members of our club touched up details of characters and situation after several all-night conferences. For a hint, the topic is debt-related murder.”
Lee Ji-su, a participant of the contest from the Department of the Police Administration at Yongin University said, “I could take part in the contest because a notification was uploaded to our department’s chat room. I listened to a lecture about bloodstain at Dongguk University yesterday and did supplementary study to prepare for the contest. Analyzing the accident scene was harder than I expected. Also, the formations of this contest such as wearing working clothes, taking pictures and interviewing witnesses were so realistic that I felt like I was on the scene of murder in reality.” In terms of realism, Seo Ju-yeon added, “Our team put a lot of efforts into making realistic murder scene. We thought participants could not concentrate if there is any clumsiness at the scene. So we kept simulating and taking videos at a seminar room to perfectly reenact our planned murder scene.”
The contest ended well and the winner was class of 16 of Department of Police and Criminal Justice of Dongguk University.
