On May 2nd, the completion ceremony of Pil-dong Seo-ae Culture Street Project was held in Pil-dong Samgeori. To make the Pil-dong Street full of vitality and representative tourist attractions, this project was proceeded with the cooperation of residents, Dongguk University, and Jung-gu Office from 2011 to 2018. For instance, they held the annual festival “Seo-ae Culture Street’s Blue Night,” remodeled structures and built cultural facilities.
Although the ceremony was going to start at 2:00 P.M., because of the rain, it started 45 minutes behind of schedule. However, even if the windy and rainy weather caused inconvenience, quite a lot of residents and Donggukians attended the ceremony. Also, five guests including Han Tae-sik (Bogwang), the president of Dongguk University, Lee Hae-gyung, the city councilor and Choi Chang-sik, the head of Jung-gu visited, too. With the considerable participation, the ceremony has started.
As the project purposed to make the street intimate with the university campus culture, diverse clubs in Dongguk University such as street dance club O.D.C, singing & band club Arirang, and rock band club Fearless Dawn performed to celebrate the completion. After the performances had ended, the main event went along. President Choi delivered the congratulatory message saying “I hope this street becomes the place where men and women of all ages can get along with each other. Especially, I wish students of Dongguk University can enjoy and have fun.” Then, a question period and conversation among authorities, residents and students continued. At last, all the participants sent up the balloons together and the ceremony ended successfully.
