On March 13th, the candidates for the By-elections of student councils, who had been decided as the candidates of each unit last week, began to electioneer at campus.
In case of the General Student Council (GSC), two teams stand for the election. Woo Dong-hee (Senior, Department of Education) and Jang You-jin (Senior, Department of Korean Language Education) of Really;D Party are presenting campaign pledges regarding conflicts within the school and educational problems. Kim Jeong-min (Senior, Department of Business Administration) and Yoon Yeong-ji (Senior, Korean Painting Major) of HIFIVE Party are insisting pledge regarding five themes: communication, culture, welfare, environment, and rights including those of international students.
In addition, the General Coed Student Council (GCSC) is on a by-election, too. Seong Im-eun (Senior, Media Communication) and Na Han-ji (Senior, North Korean Studeis) of Dongteum Party, who are the only candidates for the GCSC, are offering pledge focusing on the protection women and minorities’ rights.
Above these student councils for the whole school unit, by-elections for student councils of three colleges will take place: College of Social Science, College of the Arts, and College of Law. In the College of Social Science, there are two candidate parties: Jang Su-jeong (Junior, Public Administration) and Park Kyoung-gun (Senior, Political Science and Diplomacy) of V-APPLE Party and Han Chae-hoon (Senior, Economics) and Kwak Jae-sin (Sophomore, Public Administration) of COUNTER PUNCH Party. In the College of the Art, there is only one candidate party: Yoon-Jung-won (Sophomore, Department of Fine Arts) and Yoon Jae-woong (Junior, Department of Film & Digital). Regarding the College of Law, Yeo Dae-hui (Sophomore, College of Law) and Kim Yeong-hye (Sophomore, College of Law) for Double Quotation Marks Party. However, there are no candidates in the College of Liberal Arts.
From March 13th to 24th, electioneering of each candidate party is going to continue. The first public hearing for the candidates of the College of Social Science took place on March 16th and the second one will be convened on March 22nd. In addition, the public hearing of the GSC and the GCSC will be on 21th at Seoul Campus and on 23th at BMC Campus. Then, the by-elections for the student councils will be on March 27th to 29th. On March 29th, there will be a ballot count. Lastly, the period for raising an appeal will take place from March 30th to 31th.
