Although it has been only six months since I first joined the Post, it feels like I have been working much longer, which I cannot define whether it is a good or bad thing. Whatever this feeling is, The Dongguk Post has become more than just a university institution to me. At one point, I was very skeptical about staying because I did not know that I was going to be this busy, and was too young to understand the whole progress. The most difficult task I had to do was covering stories. Calling me a “journalist” sounded so awkward and I was afraid that people might show indifferent behavior towards me. It was exhausting at that moment, but looking back, it was the time that I felt very proud of myself, for working so hard. Difficult moments made me grow strength and responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment I felt was indescribable. Beyond all the hardships, I found a great pride in myself. There were events that caused my heart to sink, but also ones that were delightful. Going through all these together, the members of The Dongguk Post now became the ones I could truly lean on. When I was little, my dream was to be a poet who loves to write and gets satisfied to see people reading her work. However, that dream faded away as I grew up, and soon my dream changed into something unspecific, but more “realistic.” Working at The Dongguk Post revived that old dream and made me realize what I truly wanted to do. I still do not exactly know what I want, but one thing is clear, that I will be writing, somewhere.
