The Dongguk Office of International Affairs hosted Dongguk International Summer School (DISS) during the last summer vacation. DISS was a part of Dongguk University’s effort to build multi-cultural bridge between countries and to promote students to experience hands-on training and diverse cultural excursions. The first session was from June 30th to July 11th, and the second one was from July 14th to 25th. The sessions consist of buddhist studies, film and digital media, East Asian and Korean studies, Korean language and culture, international business and communication, and criminal justice. Each program offers two weeks of intensive lectures with three hours of lecturing per day and worth three credits. Foreign and Dongguk students who registered for DISS can also experience diverse Korean culture and language programs, including temple stay, NANTA show, baseball game, mud festival, Mountain Climbing, DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) tour, and Seoul city tour. DISS students were evaluated with the same criteria for normal Donggukians within nine scale from grading of A+ to F. DISS was an opportunity for Dongguk University to leap their another step forward to be an international hall of academy, and for students, to share languages and experience cultures with each other.
