On January 21st to 24th, a start-up assistance center, LINC (Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation) arranged the “Creative Talent Camp for Entrepreneurial,” included in one of the university programs called “Completion of Talent.” The main goal of this camp was to develop students’ entrepreneurship and provide opportunity for rediscovery of one’s career path. 29 of selected students went to Jeju Island and engaged themselves in diverse programs.

The programs included lectures about creative talent, mentoring, and field study activities. For the field study activities, students went to four places in Jeju Island. They were Jeju-do Office, Daum Communication Corporation, Jeju-do Olle Market, and World Heritage in Jeju Island, which is Manjang Cave and Chonjiyeon Waterfall.

In Jeju-do Office, students did case study of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province innovation policy. At the Daum Communication Corporation, located in Jeju Free International City Development Center, students were able to observe successful cases of innovation policy, which was to develop Jeju Island. Moreover, they were given a chance to explore Daum Communication corporate culture.

In Jeju-do Olle Market, a place where many marine products are sold, students were also given a mission to sell a product. At last, students visited two of  World Heritage places, Manjang Cave and Chonjiyeon Waterfall, and learned their competitiveness and how they became world heritages. Yoon Doo-hang, a junior majoring in Department of Medical Biotechnology, said, “This camp has awakened me to be more driven and  passionate of what I want to do. I was especially impressed when I attended a lecture of one of the merchant from the Olle Market, where he told us about the case between Olle Market and KT Olleh, which is the company that sued Olle Market for using the same name. I realized if all members could cooperate, they can eventually achieve what they want, just like how Olle Market merchants did in the court.” He also added that, “The camp held various lectures that covered lots of different topics such as introduction of business model and self-development coaching which gave practical advice for students who are preparing for business start-up or employment.”
