The Central Library has changed as there had been construction during the summer vacation. First, the browsing PCs located in the Central Lobby have been removed. The reason for this is that there have been problems with users who have occupied the seats for long periods of time and have ignored the original purpose of browsing on the PCs, which was used to look up books in the library. More standing PCs will now be established for the use of book research, printing, and copying. The spare space, which is now present with the removal of the browsing PCs, will be replaced with an Information Center and Book Loan and Return Office. Also, the Information Center has been established for students’ convenience. Before, there was no integrated place to take care of questions from students who were unfamiliar with the use of the library’s system. But with the Information Center, it can provide this service to students.

In addition, the lockers placed on the first floor of the Central Lobby have been moved to the cafe on the roof and in the Exhibition Hall. As for the cafe on the fourth floor, it has been moved down to the first floor where the lockers had previously been located. Moreover, the Exhibition Hall that had been located on the second floor which had not been used practically and had only been used for certain events has been changed. By using half of the space in the Exhibition Hall as locker space and another space for the book cafe, the space will be used in a more practical way. The book cafe is also a newly established place for students. Although it does not allow students to drink beverages, it will be used as a place for students to relax and read a book. Moreover, the place for the book return office has been moved to inside the gateway of the Central Lobby. Previously, students could return a book without passing through the gateway. However, starting from the second semester, all services including book loans and returns are to be conducted inside the entrance.

Besides these changes, there are other small changes in the library as well. First, the old bulletin board in the Central Lobby has been replaced with a new one. Second, the interior of the security office has changed to give a unified impression. Third, the partition that surrounded the elevator has been removed so that students will be able to see the whole side of the elevator in the Central Lobby. Finally, to secure places for group study such as the PT room and study room, all of the books in the Old Book Room have been placed into each section of the library. This construction will continue during the second semester.

The Central Library has not gone through any dramatic changes or construction since 2003 except for the extension work of the reading room on the fourth floor. The biggest reason was due to a shortage in the school budget. To resolve this, last semester many business plans were handed in and various types of exhibitions were opened for the collection of funds towards the development of the Central Library. Still, the Central Library is changing toward an improved facility with better services.
