In 2013, e-Class reformed its service to a new version with additional functions. Compared to the previous e-Class in 2008, students have been satisfied with the latest version.
The reformation reflected complaints from students that they wanted a more convenient service for users. e-Class is also trying to keep pace with the current trend of mobile users by making a simplified mobile version of e-Class. Also, an English translation has been provided for the foreign users.
As for the additional functions, e-Class has improved its speed by limiting uploading file capacity. This development has prevented the internet server from going down. Additionally, e-Class has added an electronic attendance system to offer handiness for both professors and students. Moreover, all menus have been simply categorized. When compared to the past version, it has become easier to check assignment lists from all classes. Whereas the previous version would show all the subject’s tasks on the monitor, the current e-Class system allows students to directly check their assignments for each class upon logging in to the system. When the student logs in to e-Class they can directly check their assignments for each class. Also, students can check for cancelled classes through e-Class without worrying about not receiving a message from professors. Furthermore, in case students are not used to using the new version of e-Class, both the announcement list and Questions and Answers sections can now be straight-forwardly found after they log-in. e-Class is working on speeding up the data updating time between every three to four hours so that students who change their course schedule can check their fixed planner as quickly as possible. Lastly, e-Class has adopted a plagiarism report program to eradicate plagiarism and allow professors to give grades fairly without wasting time on checking for plagiarized ideas by comparing one paper to another. The latest updated function is a community service, and opened on May 13th. This service is similar to D-yeon, a social community site at Dongguk University. Through this service, students can share their knowledge and personal experience freely by posting writings and photos.
As for other future plans on e-Class, Lee Hyun-woo from the Information Service and Education said “Sooner or later e-Class will add more systems for the sake of student’s convenience such as online lecture programs and we are trying to make a mobile version of it too.”
