Dongguk University now has its new dormitory for students. The new dormitory named “Namsan Residnece Hall” will be operated by this 2012 semester, offering comfortable conditions for the students who live far from their hometown.

Completion of the construction was the long cherished ambition to all students. Recruitment of dormitory draws the attention of many students who live near the school.

The new dormitory is famous for its environment-friendly system equipped. At the rooftop, the dormitory utilizes the solar energy heating system. A fountain near the dormitory will also utilize the underground water in the Nam Mountain. “The dormitory received Green Building Certification System,” said an officer of the dormitory.

The dormitory houses 751 domestic and international residents, including 5 physically chanllenged students. The highest priority in the accommodation of dormitory is given to the international exchange, disabled and disadvantaged students. Students who live in Seoul, Incheon and Kyung Gi Province are low priority.

Gym, cafe, convenience store are also available, which can be used by the students. It seems students will focus on their studies in the dormitory.

Beside the Namsan Residual Hall, New Engineering Hall also finally opened alongside the dormitory. The facilities of Computer Engineering, Information & Communication Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Major in College of Engineering and those of Dept. of Semiconductor Science in College of Natural Science Departments moved to New Engineering Hall.

All professors’ offices and laboratories of that department had been located at Wonheung Hall moved to New Engineering Hall.

Science Research Center (SRC) also moved to 1st and 2nd floors. There are connection passages with dormitory at 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th. The name of the Wonheung Hall still remains as it is.

The discussion about how to use the remainder facilities will be expected to be held. As dormitory and New Engineering Hall was constructed, Dongguk University expects to strengthen competitiveness in natural science or engineering, raise foreign reputations and attract superior students from the provinces.
