If you see June on Calendar in this year, what do you think? Most of readers feel June is the joyful month because of ended in semester and opening World cup. Meanwhile, they feel some disappointed because there is no holiday except for Sunday. However, June is meaningful month more than our thought, because it is Patriots Defense of Month with including The Memorial day which is a national holiday. Indeed, the Korea War important in historically witnessed at June in 1950. The first battle of West Sea happened June 15 in 1999, the second battle most of people do not memory because of 2002 World Cup also took place on June 29.
On June 17th, the movie “Enter to the War” hot topic by casting Star actors is going to premier matching with Patriots Defense of Month. The main content of this movie is story about student soldiers during Korea War in 1950 based on true story. The story is resembled with “Brotherhood” was a box-office success in 2003 dealing with student soldiers based on the fact. The common thing between two movies is soldiers in our generation always fought for protecting our country.
In fact, including Korean War, many students doing their job as a soldier sacrificed for country in first and second battle of the West Sea. The victims of “Cheonan” ship accident two months ago also included our generation. Even Jang Cheol-hee, one of Victims at the accident, was only nineteen years old. He was a university student like us, before he applied military service.
Although they sacrificed their own life at golden age as a soldier for our region security and people, they were also our friends, seniors, juniors and family like us in society not in the army. And my friends, juniors, and seniors were soldier at once or going to be soldier. In shortly, the stories of victims are never far from us more than our thought.
The accidents of the ship already passed two months in nearly. The mood of cherishing Victims had spread widely in our society. In April, The Sadness and unfortunate News about “Cheonan” ship and victims reported by Newspapers, TV was enough to feel sorrow not to be described. And the sorrow had resonated with all People in Korea.
Now, people return to their daily life by overcoming sorrow. The scene of University is also same. Now, the laugh is blooming in the campus because of Festival at the end of May and a heated atmosphere for heading 2010 World-Cup holding at South Africa. It is natural phenomena.
However we should not forget the laugh of us thanks to our juniors, seniors, friends and all people related to army working at this moment like victims of the second battle of west sea did their best for anchoring our country’ security during 2002 World-Cup under many hardship. For facing Patriots Defense of Month, thinking once more about sincerely meaning of commemorating their noble sacrificing despite with a busy routine. The date 6th June in Calendar has come to us as more meaningful than Red color.
