Surprised by Professionalism

When I was asked to read this magazine, I did not expected much because I knew that it is both hard to get an interview with many people and them to translate it back into English and that students don't have much time to concentrate on just one thing. But after I read this magazine for the first time, I came to doubt that it was really made only by the students, because every single article was substantial enough to meet the students' needs. Actually, we have a Campus newspaper written in English, the 'Ewha Voice'. But it has the shape of a newspaper so it is sometimes inconvenient to read. Compared with ours, 'The Dongguk Post' is more convenient to read because it is not like a newspaper but more like a magazine. More people will read it because it is handy. Through 'Campus Clip' I could get some information of what is happening in Dongguk University and what  Donggukians are concerned about these days. 'DU Vision' offered very constructive ways to improve Dongguk University and to make a better future. I think that kind of section should be added to Ewha Voice, too.But there is a weak point. It would be better if all the articles are categorized: news in Dongguk, Society, Culture, World, and Editorials...... Because they are somewhat mixed together now, it is not easy to find what I want to read, even though there is the table of contents on the first page.In 'Window on the World' I got a lot of information about the potential of North Korea and world's recent movement toward North Korea. And the 'Social Scoop' column was also useful to know and was easy to comprehend due to the charts showing specific information that has something to do with the topic. The conclusion, however, was insufficient. So it made me feel that the article was too objective, and did not have any different opinions. There should be  people expressing their preference for one Internet system on the other. The 'Photo Essay', 'Cozy Lounge' and 'Review' column prevent the Post from being too serious. The Photo Essay, made me look back upon my everyday life. It reflected my own routine. I also could get cultural and literary information, which made me be more interested in books.Anyway, I was surprised at how very professional and passionate all the reporters and editors of 'The Dongguk Post' are. I am looking forward to reading this magazine the  next time it is published.
