Dongguk is not only freezing tuition fees for the second consecutive year, they are launching a new scholarship program. This will be the first scholarship program that is voluntarily sponsored students’parents at Dongguk University. The funds will be used as supplemental assistance for those students who are in needy circumstances.
On February 3rd DU sent a fundraising letter in the name of Oh Young-kyo, the president of the university to the parents of 12,000 students. In the letter, the president said the scholarship will benefit all students by creating a better academic atmosphere and he respectfully urged all who can to contribute.
According to International Cooperation, the department supervising the new scholarship program, donation participation has been vigorous. “About 100 people have sent money to us so far despite the poor economy,” said Lee Seoun-in, a member of International Cooperation. “We plan to gather more funds throughout the semester and these funds will be used in the following semester.”
