Between April 19th and 21st, an evaluation team comprising of university professors from around the nation visited Dongguk University(DU) to evaluate the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in Korea(ABEEK).
ABEEK supports the establishment and improvement of engineering colleges’ educational programs. It also supports, along with numerous other related projects, man-power development in the field of engineering. Its goal is to promote the engineering discipline as a competitive industry and viable career choice.
All and all, the ABEEK evaluation team had 13 members: 11 professors from around Korea, a team leader Professor Min Sang-won(Kwangwoon University), and an official from the industrial sector. Evaluation is made every 2 years. ABEEK’s ultimate aim is to guarantee engineering education’s future.
To ensure that the following standards are satisfied, there must be: 1) a proper educational program; 2) a program to educate and train students 3) a course province; 4) Students who are able to meet ABEEK exact standards; 5) a trained Faculty; 6) A conducive educational environment; 7) Qualitative Educational improvement; 8)Major sphere certification standards. To satisfy these requirements, on May 6th, DU handed in a report on each department's evaluation results.
