Dongguk Exhibited Alumni's Works- "A Centennial Poetic Encounter"
From April 26 to May 9, "A Centennial Poetic Encounter - the Exhibition of Poems and Drawings Commemorating the 100th Anniversary," was held at Kongpyong Art Center in Insadong, Seoul.  The collection, memorial ceremony of The Dongguk University (DU) Centennial Anniversary, featured about 120 works of alumni who influenced the twentieth-century Korean literary world including Han Yong-un, So Chong-ju and Shin Kyung-rim.
We can enjoy many valuable poems such as Han Yong-un's The Silence of My Love, So Chong-ju's Beside a Chrysanthemum and Shin Kyung-rim's Farmer's Dance.  Especially, So Chong-Ju's In This Endless National History was seem by the public for the first time at this event.  The poem was written when he was alive in 1996 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the writer's alma mater.
"It is a concern of Poet So Chong-ju. He may want his juniors to ruminate on DU's eternal history and senior spirit," said Hong Ki-sam, President of DU.
"There are many prominent figures who were graduated from DU.  They have contributed greatly to the development of Korean culture.  In fact, it is within bounds to say that DU literature means Korean literature," added Hong.
According to the Office for DU 100th Anniversary, earnings from the collection book will be paid into the DU Development Fund and the works have been included in Turning the Pages, which puts literary works into electronic images.
