Kang was a member of the popular dance group CLON. But he had a traffic accident and he has paralysis in the lower half of his body.
"I couldn't dance anymore. I thought that I had lost meaning to my life. I began to hate everyone, but I changed to a positive attitude after I met other disabled persons communicated with me. Then, I considered my troubles as God's way for me to give his message of love to other people," Kang said.
He repeatedly emphasized "positive thinking" and "concern for the disabled" during the lecture. He asked Donggukians to consider not only themselves but also others.
The Center for Student Welfare and Counseling at Dongguk University (DU) invited Kang in order to open students' minds toward the handicapped.
"DU's Centennial Anniversary is a special time for students," said Chun Jin-sang, the program's planner.
