Suwon, Daejeon and Chungnam alumni associations raised money for their alma mater Dongguk University (DU) and donated it to President Hong, Ki-Sam to support students and the school on Nov. 2 and 6, respectively.
Kim Yong-Koo, chairperson of the Suwon alumni association, also donated 30 million won, which would total to about 103 million won for the DU development fund in this year. The executives of the association sent to all the alumni a letter urging them to contribute money for their juniors. "To cultivate students is one way to step up the status of the university. We want to go ahead with raising funds, participating in the paying-tuition-fee-one-more-time campaign to advance the development of DU," Mr. Kim said.
Geum Ki-Hong, chief of the secretariat in Daejeon and Chungnam alumni association, delivered 10 million won DU on Nov. 6th. "Daejeon and Chungnam alumni association is supporting DU on the 100th anniversary of DU." Mr. Kim said.
Park, Hyuk-Sang in the office of external affairs and development said, "Even though we had a great 100th anniversary celebration, there wasn't much support from the alumni. All the money will go to student scholarships. I hope more Donggukians will join this campaign for their juniors."
