  A rally against the Korea-U.S. FTA, organized by the Korean Alliance against the Korea-US FTA, was not able to be held at Dongguk University (DU) on July 11 owing to the opposition by the General Student Council (GSC).
  The GSC said: "We also oppose FTA between Korea and America.  However, the alliance announced without consultation with the school that they were going to use the campus for a gathering place. The GSC did not allow protesters to enter DU.
  Lee Sung-Su, one of the participants in the rally, raised his voice against the GSC, "A university exists for a society, but not just for a small group of people.  The GSC fails to devote itself to social justice anymore.  I'm shocked with this situation."
  The rally instead was held at Jangchung Park on the same day.  The GSC maintained a very hard line until now.  "Of course, it is meaningful to open the university's door widely to promote the public's interest.  But we think it is more important to ensure the students' study right," said Woo Young-Jin, a vice chairperson of the GSC.
