Impeachment

The bill to impeach President Roh Moo-hyun was acted on overwhelmingly by opposition parties on March 12, 2004. Lawmakers voted 193-2 to approve removing Roh from his position in 30 minutes. As a result, Roh became the first president in Korean history to be impeached although four years still remain in his tenure. Prime Minister Goh Kun, has taken over the  president's office. It's up to the Constitutional Court's decision to stand by the bill or not. Regarding the impeachment, The Dongguk Post gave careful attention to Donggukians' opinions at the end of March.......................................Ed.

 DU students are worried about "the horrible situation." Most of them think the impeachment is unjust because Roh's political actions were no reason for him. And they believe that the actions leading impeachment have to be more serious in order for impeachment to happen. According to the poll, the impeachment of Roh will be ruled invalid by the Constitutional Court.
