Our school will establish a “Dongguk Metaversity” platform to support freshmen in the 23rd grade to participate in classes on the Metaverse campus. Metaverse is a combination of the English word “meta” meaning “virtual," “transcendence” and “Universe,” which means the universe, and refers to a three-dimensional virtual world where social, economic, and cultural activities take place.

   The Teaching and Learning Development Center conducted research on learner-centered instructional design guidelines and educational utilization effects in a metaverse environment through a study on “Implementation of Teaching and Learning Activation Measures using Metaverse.” A total of five buildings, including Paljeongdo, the main building, Jeonggakwon, the lecture hall, and the event hall, will be implemented and used for classes starting next year.

   Due to the prolonged COVID-19, Dongguk Metaversity will be used in various ways as well as offline experiences such as classes, events, counseling, events, and promotions for students to have learning experiences like offline spaces in online spaces. In addition, not only will the university network ecosystem be newly established by expanding to the metaverse beyond space constraints, but anyone can easily visit Dongguk University and communicate with each other through the metaverse virtual campus, and the metaverse campus will be continuously updated.

   Just as metaverse classes were introduced in some major and liberal arts subjects from the second semester of this year, it is said that it plans to actively expand and operate metaverse classes next year after collecting opinions from professors and students.
