From November 9th to 10th, 2022 Dongguk International Week was held on Paljeongdo from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. Dongguk International Education and Culture Fair is designed to create a place for students to communicate with exchange students. Exchange students from various countries ran booths. They explained the characteristics and school life of their universities that had an exchange with Dongguk university.
For example, in the Spain booth, Spanish exchange students explained their schools. Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona has a wide range of majors, and ESCI-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, specializes in business administration. Therefore, students can choose the school by the major they want. The first characteristic that differs from Korean schools is “people.” Spaniards are always friendly, so they talk to people they meet for the first time in a friendly way, and they eat together naturally with students they do not know at school cafeterias. Another characteristic is the party. There are lots of parties in Spanish universities. Especially at Universitat de Barcelona, parties were held every Thursday. There may be concerns that introverted students may find it difficult to adapt, but the exchange student community is well established, so it is not difficult to adapt. There is also an English course, so even if you are not very good at Spanish, you can study in English.
There were various activities that students could participate in. At the Czech booth, they could take pictures in front of the national flag wearing traditional clothes. At the Mexican booth, they could have a unique experience with traditional food. At the Indonesian booth, you could play a simple game and receive small gifts. The fair also provided an experience where people could take pictures wearing traditional costumes from various country.
There were also booths run by the Office of International Relations. In the booth, you could find out which countries and schools have exchange student programs with our schools. One-on-one exchange student counseling is also available for students who want to try exchange students. The global exchange team provided opportunities to meet students from various countries that they had never known before at this event so that they could share information and communicate with each other at this International Fair.
The exchange students who ran the booth participated in the fair to inform their country and school. It was a great chance for students to communicate with each other and get information.
