Dongguk University, which has 116 years of history, has declared "Dongguk Future VISION 2040." It aims to become a domestic Top 3 and a global Top 50 with the vision of "Global Leader Leading the Sustainable Future of Humanity." In particular, the plan is to support students' successful social advancement by taking the lead in future society through selection and concentration in the fields of Buddhism & Culture, Safety & Security, Bio & Medi, and D.N.A (Big Data, Network, AI).
As a result, Dongguk University begins a new leap forward by creating a new department or reorganizing existing departments to implement a new vision. A recruitment unit has been established for the Department of AI Software Convergence and the Department of Korean Music. The Department of AI Software Convergence is a new program that includes computer engineering majors and multimedia engineering majors in the department, which was opened in 2022. For this, 128 people are admitted from occasional recruitment through various screening, such as comprehensive student records, essay writing and practical skills. It can be seen as a newly created recruitment unit through the reorganization of the Department of AI convergence newly established in 2022 and some departments existing in the established Department of Engineering.
The Department of Korean Music admits 15 students through practical screening in the categories of instrumental music, vocal music, and Korean practical music. It also showed that the appointment of prominent figures at the level of human cultural properties as professors, which shows the Department of Korean Music will play an important role in fostering realistic and practical professional Buddhist talents.
