Haedong Yonggungsa Temple awarded scholarships to 12 Dongguk University students for fostering local future Buddhists,

The 12th “Regional Future Growth of Buddhism Growth” scholarship certificate award ceremony was held in the meeting room of the school founding committee which is on the fifth floor of Dongguk University Main Hall on May 4th. It was the first scholarship award at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, and the 12th regional future Buddhist promotion scholarship ceremony at Dongguk University. There attended Don Kwan Sunim, the chairman of the School Founding Committee, Yoon Sung-yee, the president of Dongguk University, Park Gi-ryeon, the Secretary-General of the School Founding Committee, Park Gwang-hyeon, the head of the Faculty and Student Affairs Department, Ji Jeong-hak, the head of the Corporate Affairs Departmen and Kim Ae-ju, the director of Foreign Cooperation. Two scholarship donors, Yeong-gyu Sunim, the chief Buddhist monk of Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, and Kwon Bo-seong, the chairman of Congregation also attended. There were 12 senior Dongguk University students from Busan, selected out of 53 students who were awarded the scholarship.
In this ceremony, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple rewarded a total of 12,000,000 won for Dongguk University students. Ven. Don Kwan Sunim congratulated the 12 scholarship students and said, “The sincere letters of thank written by students was like a scene from a movie. That’s how touching it. Was. I am happy to award scholarships to students who are studying hard. I hope you study hard and develop while thinking about the purpose of the future Buddhist scholarship. From now on, I will cheer for you to grow into the future path that Dongguk University thinks of.” Moreover, Kwon Bo-seong, the chairman of Congregation said, “Thank you for this great opportunity. Students, I hope you become a big star in Korea with a bright and warm heart.”
3 of the 12 students gave letters of appreciation on behalf of them. Park Joo-bin, a major in Media Communication said, “While preparing for the accountant exam, I encountered various problems such as traces and financial problems and thank you for this great opportunity. Based on good opportunities, I will try to be a better person in the future. Thank you for all.” Park Chaewon, a senior in the Department of Film and Film said, “I will work hard to achieve my dream of making a movie. Thank you for this great opportunity.” Lastly, Park Down, a senior in the Department of English and English Literature said, “I try to find my dream by accepting as many experiences as possible with ease of mind. I’ll run toward my dream with this exciting, joyful, nervous, and caring heart.” All three students shared a common saying, “Based on these grateful opportunities, I will be a good person who will give more in the future. Thank you for giving hope to the students.”
