Dongguk University launched a meaningful campaign under the lead of Jeonggakwon to practice mercy, which is Dongguk University’s spirit of foundation. It is called “Sharing mercy and hanging wish fulfillment lantern” campaign. A total of 24 trees of hope have been planted in the main lobby of 12 buildings in Dongguk University, including the main building. Any Donggukian, including students, professors, employees, alumni, or Buddhists, can hang the wish fulfilment lantern on the tree and celebrate personal anniversaries, thank for the good things, and pray for the fulfillment of one’s wish. Offering lantern for the New Year’s wishes was only from January 19th to February 26th. However, Jeonggakwon declared that offering the tree of hope or a lantern is always possible.
Participation fee is required to join the campaign. You can either pay for the tree of hope or for the lantern. In the case of the tree of hope, 200 thousand won is needed, which includes fee for a lantern. If you choose a lantern, you have to pay at least 10 thousand won. In order to sign up for the participation, you should register in uDRIMS, or search “Dongguk University Jeonggakwon” channel on Kakao Talk and send your name, department, contact information, and wishes in less than 25 letters. The entire participation fee will be given to students in the form of “COVID-19 Overcoming Scholarship.”
