It has passed about two months since the opening of Manhae Hall. Keeping pace with the building's reopening, the School Authority (SA) reorganized the Central Library (CL) for searching only, and plans to relocate facilities for reading. They expect to solve somewhat space problems, our campus's chronic obstacle. Then how do students think now? And how much do they satisfy about the SA's such treatments. At this time, The Dongguk Post surveyed Donggukians' public opinions.............................................................................Ed.
<Manhae Hall Reading Rooms>
1. Have you ever used Manhae Hall reading rooms?
① Yes (54%)
② No (46%)
It has passed about one months since the opening of Manhae Hall when the Post polled. A half of students have used Manhae Hall facilities, until the late March.
2. If you have used the reading rooms, how much do you satisfy?
3.63 Points (Full mark : 5 Points)
Students were satisfied the new building approximately. However according to above points, it will be more exact to consider new facilities are common.
3. If you satisfy it, what is the reason?
① Good-look exterior of new building (6%)
② Clean interior of new building (37%)
③ Reading rooms expanded (34%)
④ New facilities; Study discussion rooms, PC, rest rooms, etc. (23%)
Most students said new facilities merits are cleanness. And many students was feeling the reading rooms were increased.
4. If you do not satisfy it, what is the reason?
① Needless marginal spaces (13%)
② Noisiness (22%)
③ Sick House Syndrome (shortage of ventilate equipments) (13%)
④ Distance from the CL (44%)
⑤ Others (7%)
Donggukians pointed out Manhae Hall's biggest problem is too far from the CL. As a matter of fact, students bellowed materials and they studies them at the same place. But because it separate function, there happen many inconveniences.

In Manhae hall, the College of Law is located in first floor, and College of Buddhism Studies is located in second floor. And there are reading rooms in each story.
2. If you unsatisfy, why do you think so?
① College of Buddhism Studies facilities are lot (13%)
② Reading rooms are few (32%)
③ Considerations for other colleges were short (40%)
④ Others (15%)
Most students complained about Manhae Hall facilities locations that there were lack of considerations for other colleges. Also, many students said there were lack of reading rooms.
3. In your view, reading rooms in the campus were increased substantially?
① Yes (26%)
② No (61%)
③ Rather decreased; close of Dongguk Hall, the CL, the extra reading rooms (13%)
The School Authority announced 50% of reading rooms were increased. But 74% of Donggukians cannot feel increasing.
<Central Library Reorganization>
1. How much do you satisfy about the CL reorganization?
3.43 Points (Full mark : 5 Points)
Students were satisfied the reorganization of the CL approximately also. The CL divided its reading function to Manhae Hall, and the library works only material searching.
2. If you satisfy it, what is the reason?
① Enhanced searching efficiency (58%)
② Cooperating with local society (reading rooms for Chung-gi residents) (5%)
③ Separate function with Manhae Hall (35%)
④ Others (3%)
More than half of students who satisfy new system said that searching system was improved efficiency. It seems that the CL changed book searching system by internet.
3. If you do not satisfy it, what is the reason?
① Searching data system was not improved (23%)
② Shortage of reading rooms (40%)
③ Function separate was not efficient (33%)
④ Others (5%)
Students who do not satisfy new system pointed out the most serious problem is shortage of reading rooms. Actually the number of seats were increased 50% as the SA announcement, many students are still worried about it.
